Manjarabad Fort is a star shaped, beautiful fort enveloped by dense greenery in the Western Ghats.The fort is located 10 kilometres away from the Sakaleshpura town to its south west, which is on the right bank of the Hemavati River, 37 km from Hassan on the National Highway no 48 that runs from Bangalore to Mangalore. Sakaleshpura is the headquarters of Manjiraba taluk and is a municipality.Since the fort is located on a hill at an elevation of 3,241 ft, it gives a clear and commanding view of the surroundings. On a clear day, even the Arabian Sea can also be seen from the fort.

Belur was the early capital of the Hoysala Empire.Halebid (also pronounced as Hale'beedu) literally means 'the old city'. According to inscriptions discovered here, Belur was also referred to as 'Velapuri'. Belur is known as Dakshina Varanasi or South Banaras for its temples. Beedu also stands for layout or a place of human habitat. The Hoysalas ruled this city for about 150 years. Then it was sacked by the armies of Malik Kafur in the early 14th century, after which it fell into a state of disrepair and ignore.It is located on the banks of river Yagachi.
